IPv6 products, community and services

At the RIPE/MENOG 8 meeting in Saudi 2 days ago,  RIPE statistics showed that Iran was leading the region in terms of quantity of IPv6 advertised routes.

Are there any service providers in Iran offering IPv6 to end users, especially to home or small office ? If so, how are they solving the last mile/CPE access issue ?

By the way, MENOG meetings (our local equivalent of NANOG) devote alot of their sessions to IPv6, so its a good idea to participate in them. Join the mail list from www.menog.net , and there is a chance that a MENOG meeting gets held in Iran in 2012.

Ahmed,

As far as I know, there is no official IPv6 services in Iran from service providers. BUT there are some enthusiastic people, who are working with service providers and they are testing IPv6 capabilities on the edge.

Is there any official IPv6 services in the region you are aware of? What is the status in the SA?

Saudi Arabia are active, and hold regular workshops on the topic. A few operators there have updated (or are working on) their core to enable Dual-Stack, but no operator is giving last mile access yet. A university network, KACST, is active on all fronts including last mile.

I think Pakistan will offer last mile IPv6 soon as they are part of Asia-Pac region which has no IPv4 left at all.

If you know an Iran operator/ISP needing to give last mile IPv6 access rapidly over IPv4 infrastructure then let us know.
