v6 in Simile

You've heard them before... too often. Now share so everyone can roll their eyes. "If IPv6 addresses were X, there would be enough to Y" ...or something like that.See More

Vic Bancroft commented on gogo6's group 'v6 in software development'
"The build environment for OpenSolaris is slightly different, e.g., $ uname -a SunOS turing 5.11 snv_84 i86pc i386 i86pc It could be a more recent vintage, but never the less, it can have a reasonable compiler, $ gcc --version gcc (GCC) 3.4.3…"

Vic Bancroft replied to gogo6's discussion 'How to configure the gogoCLIENT for Freenet6 Tunnel on Linux'
"After constructing a default build and install into /usr/local all the really interesting bits end up in /usr/local/bin, including both gw6c and gw6c.conf. Without making any changes to the configuration, execution of the gw6c results in the…"

Vic Bancroft replied to Vic Bancroft's discussion 'tool building' in the group v6 in software development
"For the next environment, $ uname -a Linux lewis.dlogic.net 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Sep 25 04:43:32 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux We seem to have the same results, perhaps a little quicker due to the host, $ time make…"

Vic Bancroft left a comment for Bruce Sinclair
"Aloha, good to see you out here! I need to dust off my old freenet6 account. Since finally retiring my old NetBSD box, it is time to make another tunnel host. Perhaps a stroll through the distros and see what feels good . . ."

Summary - why you are here, your IPv6 experience, what you are working on, ...
After a long time spent in communications programming and distributed systems, it became obvious my intuitions about IPv6 needed additional basis in personal experience. There is a backlog of programs to port and analytic models to update to IPv6, as well as areas of interest previously unexplored.
